Senior Platform Engineer
Palo Alto / Remote

CAN Health is building the operating system for continuous care. As a Senior Platform Engineer you will design and scale the infrastructure that powers CareOS — the connective tissue between hospitals, payers, devices, and patients. You will own reliability, security, and performance across a distributed data platform that touches real care outcomes every day.

The role

What you'll do.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and operate the distributed infrastructure underpinning CareOS, including data ingestion, event streaming, and multi-tenant API layers.
  • Define and enforce reliability engineering practices: SLOs, alerting, incident response, and post-mortems.
  • Collaborate with product and clinical engineers to make privacy-by-design a platform primitive rather than an afterthought.
  • Drive infrastructure security posture, working closely with the Trust team on HIPAA compliance and SOC 2 controls.
  • Mentor engineers across the org on platform patterns, on-call discipline, and production hygiene.

What we're looking for

  • 5+ years of experience in platform, infrastructure, or site-reliability engineering.
  • Deep familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS or GCP) and container orchestration (Kubernetes).
  • Experience designing distributed systems that handle sensitive data at scale.
  • Strong grasp of networking, security, and data residency concerns in regulated industries.
  • Excellent written communication — you document decisions and write clear runbooks.
